April 28, 2017 - Clear Creek County, Colo. – CCEDC hosts Mass Economics May 1-5, in Clear Creek County. Located just outside of Boston, Mass., the team begins their ‘boots on the ground’ engagement with key stakeholders and community business leaders—all with the intent of analyzing and developing a more robust and diverse economy for both Grand and Clear Creek Counties. In January, Mass Economics was chosen out of several candidates to lead this joint effort—funded by a US Economic Development Admin. $100K grant and matching Climax Molybdenum grant.
Next week’s site visit will involve meeting with several groups of people, to include: County Senior Staff, town mayors, city councils and administrators, County business owners, a tour of the Henderson Mine, and a wrap-up community event Friday, May 5th, 5:30-7:30pm at Tommyknocker Brewery & Pub in Idaho Springs---the Public is Invited to Attend!
“We are really excited to have the Mass Economics Team with us for a full week, and the chance for them to meet and understand the diverse businesses we have—and, economic development opportunities we might be missing,” said Lindsey Valdez, CCEDC President.
Their scope of work includes producing an economic assessment and market analysis of the County, creating an action and implementation plan, then compiling a project outline which includes actual courses of action. “With a potential closure of the Henderson Mine, which accounts for some 70% of assessed value in Clear Creek, now is the time to listen to the experts and see how we can diversify our economy,” said Keith Montag, County Manager.
The Clear Creek Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) is a non-profit organization established in 1985 that provides economic development services to Clear Creek County and its municipalities and administers the Business Loan Fund Program in Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. CCEDC’s goal is to encourage growth, focus on business and job retention, and work towards a more diverse and sustainable economy while acting as the catalyst for building public and private partnerships. We are here to assist businesses every step of the way. Businesses come to enjoy the lifestyle, business environment, entrepreneurial support, and strategic location.
