Lakewood Development Helps Homeless Veterans Across State, County’s Low Income and Homeless Vets Now

Lakewood Development Helps Homeless Veterans Across State,
County’s Low Income and Homeless Vets Now Eligible
October 12, 2017 - Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – 40 West Residences, a four story, 60-unit low income housing development officially opened its doors Oct. 5, 2017, amidst sunny skies and a host of local dignitaries and key partners. The $15M development took more than five years to complete, and combined the services of the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Colorado Division of Housing, Housing and Urban Development, Jefferson Center for Mental Health, Rocky Mountain Human Services, the Colorado Housing and Financing Authority, and a host of investors and supporters. Dozens of ‘Welcome Home Kits’ were donated by the Lakewood Elks. Of the 60 units, 25 will be reserved for low income and homeless veterans.
“This is truly exciting for our community of veterans, with many struggling to make ends meet,” said Troy Erickson, Clear Creek County Veterans’ Services Officer and Veterans’ Coalition Board Member. “With some 1,600 veterans in our County, I can assure you we have several residents who don’t have a place to live or the support services they need in our mountain community.”
The non-profit Archway project has one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, and is located ½ mile from the Lamar Street Station and W-Line (RTD train), making transportation around the Denver Metro Area accessible. Other services available on the premises include job assistance, community skills training, VA case management and other support programs.
Interested County Veterans should contact Troy Erickson at 303-670-7543, or terickson@co.clear-creek.co.us .
