Gilpin and Clear Creek Counties Launch Transit Assessment Initiative,
Local Colorado Firm Felsburg Holt & Ullevig (FHU) Named Prime Consultant
Oct. 24, 2017 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Gilpin and Clear Creek Counties are beginning their joint transportation assessment and planning projects. The study is expected to take six months, and looks at the transit needs of both Counties, including current gaps, possible solutions and funding/support mechanisms that best work for the communities supported.
FHU was chosen out of several other consultants, and brings experience in transportation projects such as working with the City and County of Denver, the Town of Estes Park, Boulder County, and Mountain Metro Transit of Colorado Springs. The $35K contract is funded by a Colorado Department of Transportation grant of $28K, and matching $7K from the two Counties, combined.
“This is a great chance to combine our efforts and address those transportation needs our two mountain communities have known for generations,” said JoAnn Sorensen, Clear Creek County Transportation Liaison.
The study encompasses project management and coordination meetings, public involvement/stakeholder engagement, analyzing existing conditions, a gaps/needs analysis, strategic service plan development and a final plan for implementation/way ahead. These will include potential partner agencies, elected officials’ engagement, stakeholders and other needs.
The project is expected to be completed by April 2018, or earlier; and, public meetings and involvement is the next step. Information will be sent out, soonest.
