County Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Courts Remodel

County Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Courts Remodel
Feb. 20, 2018 – Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Clear Creek County and the Colorado Judicial Branch held a ribbon cutting ceremony today, celebrating the completion of the project to remodel the Clear Creek County Courthouse—which houses both County and District Courts.

Planning for the project began late 2014, and the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) awarded the County $25,000 towards the remodel design process. Anderson Hallas was chosen as the design architect in collaboration with Iconergy—the County’s energy services consultant. Iconergy was previously awarded the County’s energy performance contract Aug. 16, 2016—which included capital improvement projects of lighting optimization, heating and cooling equipment replacement in County buildings, solar panels on some County roofs, envelope sealing and appliance/upgrades in several facilities.
Funding for the remodel project came from a partnership between the County, DOLA and the State Courts Administration. The County contributed $249,770; DOLA’s Energy & Mineral Impact Fund Grant matched the County contribution, and State Courts contributed $223,000—for a total of $722,540 for the whole remodel project. The project began in the spring of 2017, and was recently completed.

The primary reasons for the remodel were: increased clientele in both the Courts and Probation, the need for additional office space, and to provide adequate, upgraded services for residents. Upgrades include: audio visual and information technology (sound and acoustics) upgrades, furniture fixtures, ADA-compliant court rooms, HVAC redesign and upgrades, and an ADA-compliant bathroom. The courtroom remodel also was impacted by the County’s energy retrofit of its facilities, including the Courthouse. The Courthouse retrofit included the replacement of plumbing and electrical capacity, replacement of a nearly 40 year old HVAC system, lighting, and building envelope improvements (doors, windows, sealing, etc.).

“These improvements are something Clear Creek County citizens will use and can be proud of for generations to come,” said Keith Montag, County Manager. “We want to thank all our partners in this
endeavor—to include DOLA, Team Iconergy, Anderson Hallas Architects, the Colorado Energy Office, and of course the Colorado Judicial Branch.”
