The office of County Attorney is created by the State Constitution in Article
XIV, §8 and Colorado Revised Statutes, § 30-11-118.
The County Attorney's office provides legal advice and representation for the Board of
County Commissioners, to the other county elected officials, the county administrator,
department and division heads, and appointed commissions, boards, and committees.
We cannot provide legal representation to county residents or property owners, as this
has the potential of creating a conflict of interest. When possible, the office will
answer general questions regarding the powers of a county or the meaning of county
