[ARCHIVED] Crisis Intervention Seminar

The Care2B Aware Task Force of Clear Creek County is sponsoring a regional seminar on Crisis Intervention, April 17th from 8-10 a.m. in Idaho Springs. The FREE workshop will feature a panel of professionals who will discuss crisis intervention information when faced with mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention incidents in the community. A donation is requested to cover a buffet breakfast.

Featured speakers will be Mitch Harper, Sergeant, Lakewood Police Investigation Division and Crisis Intervention Team Officer; Keith Byers, Army Guard, Suicide Prevention Manager; Doug Bryan, Director of Psychological Health, Colorado National Guard; and Morris Burnham, Clinical Social Worker, Substance Abuse Treatment Program, Veterans Hospital, Denver. George Clark, Chairman of the county Veterans Coalition, will moderate the event. Linda Trenbeath, Coordinator of Care2B Aware, will provide Task Force information and networking opportunities.

Speakers will discuss skills in dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues, the high rate of suicide for Veterans, and appropriate awareness and prevention strategies. Local and regional law enforcement, first responders, victim advocates, mental health and substance abuse service providers, Veteran affair coordinators and coalitions, local leaders and the community at large are invited to attend.
