RESOLUTION #18-108

RESOLUTION TO DECLARE DECEMBER 15, 2018, AS BILL OF RIGHTS DAY CLEAR CREEK COUNTY COLORADO

WHEREAS, on December 15, 1791, the founding fathers of the United States of America ratified a document that contained amendments to the Constitution of the United States that would become the cornerstone of the freedoms, privileges and rights we enjoy today; and

WHEREAS, these first ten amendments of the Constitution would become known as The Bill of Rights, which spell out our rights as Americans; and

WHEREAS, it guarantees civil rights and liberties such as freedom of speech, press and religion; and

WHEREAS, it sets rules for due process of law, and reserves all powers not delegated to the Federal Government to the people or the states; and

WHEREAS, on this 227th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights, people of this country continue to live and prosper because of the freedoms and privileges insured by this document. 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Clear Creek Board of County Commissioners does hereby declare, support and reaffirm that December 15, 2018, be known as Bill of Rights Day, and encourage Clear Creek County residents to reflect on that significant and important event in our Nation’s history.   

ADOPTED, this 11th day of December, 2018 at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Clear Creek Board of County Commissioners.
