BACKGROUND:
With Executive Order D 2020 031 amending and extending Order D 2020 012, Governor Polis authorized the County Treasurers to suspend or waive delinquent interest that may accrue as a result of delinquent tax payments until April 30, 2020. This Order also authorizes County Treasurers to collect multiple payments from taxpayers to equal the amount due by the statutory deadlines.
THE POLICY:
Clear Creek County intends to handle the interest situation as follows:
1. Interest for late first half payments - We will waive interest for late first half payments, which are made (delivered or postmarked) during the period March 20 through April 30, 2020. Should the Governor’s order again be extended we will make the best determination at that point about how to proceed.
Unfortunately, you cannot make this 1st half payment without interest through our online system.
Instead, please drop a check in the US Mail addressed to:

This waiver of the first half payment interest does not extend to accounts where the taxes are being remitted by a mortgage company through a taxpayers escrow account or by a title company as part of a real estate closing.
