The office of the County Attorney is created by the State Constitution in Article XIV, Section 8, and Colorado Revised Statutes, Section 30-11-118.
The County Attorney’s office provides legal advice and representation for the Board of County Commissioners, to the other county elected officials, the county administrator, department and division heads, and appointed commissions, boards and committees.
We cannot provide legal advice to county residents or property owners, in part because doing so could create a conflict of interest. When possible, the office will answer general questions regarding the powers of a county or the meaning of county regulations. Please see the Sources of Legal Information to see legal resources available to the public.
