A phishing scam has recently targeted some of our applicants. Scammers have been sending fraudulent invoices and threatening notices of fines, pretending to be from Clear Creek County. These emails may look convincing because they use information taken from publicly available documents (such as your name, email, or mailing address).

What to do if you receive a similar email:
- Do not pay the invoice or respond to the sender.
- Delete and report the email using your report phishing features within your email provider.
- If you have already responded or made a payment, you must contact your local law enforcement immediately to report this crime.
- Report it at https://stopfraudcolorado.gov/ or local law enforcement.

Please keep the following in mind:
- Clear Creek County will only send emails ending in @clearcreekcounty.us. You may verify fees by contacting the Planning Dept.
- Clear Creek County will never request payment through wire transfer.
- Use your best judgement. If an email seems suspicious, do not reply, click on links, or provide any personal or financial information. You can always contact us if you are questioning if an email is legitimate.
